Community Oral Health, Dentistry
Program Description:
In 2000, the Secretariat of the Council for Dental Education and Postgraduate in Iran recognized Community Oral Health as a postgraduate discipline in dentistry. Tehran University of Medical Sciences started Community Oral Health training in 2001 for undergraduate students. The Department of Community Oral Health currently offers training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for local students. The program has six full-time academic members who have graduated in Community Oral Health (Ph.D. level) from high-quality international dental schools and two Pediatric Dentistry Specialists. At the international level, two advanced training programs are offered as the post-graduate programs.
Admission Requirements
General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requiremetns: Degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) or Degree in General Physicians (M.D) by one of the Iranian or foreign universities.
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved general physician program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.

Introduction
E-learning in medical sciences is an interdisciplinary field that combine various academic disciplines including educational sciences, medical sciences and e-learning. This program mainly focusses on educational planning for e-learning paying critical attention to medical and health related area including clinical and laboratory practice. In addition, capabilities such as leadership, theory development in e-learning systems and applied research are considered in this program.

Asynchronous and synchronous classes and academic activities through related software (there is no need to travel to Iran).
Note: Online enrollment does not contradict with studying other disciplines, i.e. the student can simultaneously study another major in Tehran University of Medical Sciences or other Universities.

Program Description:
Epidemiology is a branch of health sciences which studies distribution and determinant factors of health-related states or events in specific populations and investigates application of these studies to fight with health hazards. The PhD students are expected to graduate with knowledge and skills in the fields of epidemiology in order to:
- develop the practical and theoretical aspects in their field
- carefully criticize studies as to scientific principles in research methods, data collection and analysis
- acquire skills to work in national health systems by relying on epidemiologic thought and knowledge, analysis and policy making ability, methods of applying research knowledge to planning and operational fields
This field is easily combined with other fields and there is an interaction between experts of this field and those of other fields. Practicing justice, law and systematic thinking; developing evidence; and decision-making based on evidence are its outstanding characteristics. The educational aim of this program is training competent individuals in education, research and health management areas.

Program Description:
Ergonomics is the scientific discipline concerned with understanding interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data and methods to design in a way to optimize human well-being and overall system performance.
Many people suffer because their conditions at work and home are incompatible with their needs, abilities and limitations. This situation affects their safety and welfare, as well as, that of organizations and societies.
High technology can make our lives more efficient and exciting. However, fascination with technology and overly ambitious business expectations can cause us to overlook human factor risks. Neglecting these risks can have serious effects on manufacturers, suppliers and service enterprises.
Therefore, the graduate in ergonomics and human factors will be more important in postmodern era to help in propagating theoretical and practical aspects of the field, advancing the frontiers of knowledge by doing research as well as innovating and promoting health and wellbeing by designingproducts as well as workplacesergonomically.
For the time being, the Islamic Republic of Iran is the pioneer for offering this course in the Middle East in terms of the educational excellence, and research products concerning ergonomics studies. In the next 10 years, the main mission of the course is to train committed, knowledgeable and competent individuals in this multidisciplinary field.

Program Description:
The PhD in Health Economics develops an analytical framework to study different aspects of health care system with an emphasis on demand for and supply of health care services, health care production and costs, and a market analysis of health care industry. Some of the important parties that play a role in the health care industry include private health insurance firms, physicians, the pharmaceutical industry, hospital services, and the government. These are studied critically in Health Economics program. In addition, the program deals with the role of government in health care industry and various health care reforms. The course content also includes a deep understanding of supply and demand for health, agency relationship, provider induced demand, moral hazard, efficiency in health care, markets and quasi-markets in health, equity, remuneration methods and incentives, financing health systems, insurance, DRGs and HRGs, national health accounts, resource allocation, priority setting, and challenges to health economics.
The PhD in Health Economics is a standard professional program designed to provide opportunity for students to learn fundamental skills in the core areas of health care system, including health economics, management and policy with a specific focus on theoretical and empirical aspects of health economics and efficient use of limited healthcare resources. The program is specifically designed for those seeking a broader sense of knowledge and skills of health economics to improve health and healthcare in the community.

Pogram Description:
Iran (the Islamic Republic) is a Middle East country covering an area of 1,648 million sq km with a population of about 75 million. It is exposed to a variety of natural and man-made disasters that have caused considerable damages to the population and infrastructures.
According to the Global Assessment Report on Disaster Reduction, the Iran’s risk class for natural hazards is 8 out of 10. Over last four decades, these hazards have caused more than 109,000 deaths and 150,000 injuries in Iran 2.
Natural disasters adversely affect the health of population directly through injury and death; increasing physical and mental illness; displacing and disrupting social networks; as well as destructing physical surroundings and personal property. Damage to the structure and function of health facilities can have further impacts by impairing the ability of communities to respond to these calamitous events.
Health in emergencies and disasters is a multidisciplinary major in health sciences. It describes disaster management cycle (mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery) and plans to save and promote physical, mental, social health is developed by School of Public Health at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in collaboration with Disaster & Emergency Management Center at the Ministry of Health & Medical Education. The program has accepted students since 2011 academic year.
Objectives:
The major goals of training PhD level in this subject include the following:
- Increasing capacity in education, research, policy making and disasters and emergency management
- Meeting scientific needs of health sector, risk management and reduction of natural, manmade and biologic threats
